The story of Gita Dairy began in 1960 when Late Sri Gauranga Das started manufacturing pure Desi Ghee with limited resources and a small team. His commitment to quality, honesty, and traditional values quickly built a strong reputation in the Kolkata market. What began as a small-scale operation soon became a trusted name in both wholesale and retail, known for its purity and ethical business practices.

Inspired by his father’s dedication, Sri Krishna Das joined the business at a young age, giving up his studies to support and grow the family legacy. Following his father’s footsteps, he adopted the same principles of hard work, ethics, and consistency — values that continue to define Gita Dairy today.
The Birth of Gita Dairy and the “GOLDEN” Brand
In 2000, with a vision to expand and diversify, Sri Krishna Das established Gita Dairy — introducing the “GOLDEN” brand to bring high-quality processed food products to more households. This marked the transformation of a family business into a full-fledged modern enterprise with a broader product range and a stronger identity.
Expanding Beyond Ghee
Today, Gita Dairy produces not only Sudh Desi Ghee but also more than 20 processed food varieties, including sauces, jams, squashes, and pickles — all under the GOLDEN brand. The products are crafted at an FSSAI-licensed facility in Domjur, Howrah, where hygiene, quality control, and innovation go hand in hand.
